Woodstock teen injured in crash, faces numerous charges

A 19-year-old man is in hot water following a crash in Woodstock Friday night.

Woodstock police say it happened around 11:45 p.m. on James St. at Teeple St., near Richardson Park. When officers arrived on scene, they noticed that a Pontiac Grand Am travelling westbound on James had hit a parked pickup truck. The driver of the Grand Am tried to run from the scene, but with the help of bystanders, he was soon found by police.

The Woodstock man, whose name has not been released, was first taken by ambulance to Woodstock General Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries suffered in the crash. After he was released from hospital, Woodstock police say he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired, operating while impaired with over 80 mg of alcohol in blood, failure to stop after a collision and failing to follow officer-in-charge undertaking.

These charges have yet to be proven in court.
