Crash claims one life

A collision north of London has left one person dead.

The Ontario Provincial Police said it happened Friday around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 23 and Fallon Drive between Lucan and Granton. According to police, a car travelling on Fallon Drive collided in the intersection with a tractor trailer that was heading north on Hwy. 23.

"A southbound tractor trailer also became involved in a secondary collision," police said in a news release.

Police said the male driver of the car was killed in the crash. He has been identified as 50-year-old Erin McComb of Lucan.

Highway 23 was closed for several hours in the area, but re-opened around 3 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
