Woman charged after car collides with train

A 52-year-old woman has been charged after a vehicle collided with a train in St. Thomas.

The vehicle was heading south on First Avenue, south of Edward Street when it crossed into the path of an eastbound train. The vehicle was dragged a short distance before the locomotive was able to stop.

The train was reversing when the collision occurred, according to police.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 52-year-old St. Thomas woman, was not seriously hurt. She has since been charged with careless driving.
