Billy Talent singer to co-host Junos gala

Billy Talent frontman Ben Kowalewicz has been tapped to co-host the Juno Gala Dinner and Awards at the London Convention Centre.

The gala, presented by the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), is slated for March 16, one night before the actual awards show at Budweiser Gardens. Kowalewicz will co-host the event with radio personality Julie Nesrallah.

Three dozen Juno Awards will be handed out over the course of the evening, including the 2019 Humanitarian Award which is being presented to Canadian musician, record producer, composer, and songwriter David Foster. He is being honoured for his lifelong dedication to philanthropy through  The David Foster Foundation.

The Saturday night gala will also include five live performances by Sarnia native Donovan Woods, breakthrough group nominee Dizzy, Brampton-based reggae musician Exco Levi, Quebec rock singer Hubert Lenoir, and Halifax's Port Cities.

“The Juno Gala Dinner and Awards Presented by SOCAN is an important platform for the music industry and fans to discover the phenomenal creators we have in this country,” said Junos President Allan Reid in a statement. “We’re so proud of the nominees attending and performing, and we thank SOCAN for their continued dedication to celebrating the achievements of Canada’s artistic community.”

The event is one of several events taking place during Juno Week in London.
