Trailer with $20K worth of milk stolen

Woodstock police believe there is a link between the thefts of a transport truck and a refrigeration trailer that was filled with $20,000 worth of milk.

The white 2007 Freightliner truck with an Alberta marker disappeared from the parking lot of the TA Travel Centre on Mill Street sometime between 9:30 a.m. Sunday and 3:55 p.m. Monday. The empty flatbed trailer that was hitched to the truck was left behind, according to police.

However, a white 53 foot refrigeration trailer with a Chicago maker, containing a load of milk that was parked at the same truck stop at 5:30 a.m. Monday was stolen. A truck driver had unhooked from the trailer and left the area for the day. When he returned at 5:30 p.m., the trailer was gone.

The investigation into the thefts is on-going. At this point police have no suspects in the case.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-537-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
