One hurt in apartment fire

A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after an apartment fire in London.

London firefighters were called to the building at 140 Langarth Street West, west of Wharncliffe Road South around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday. Few details about the blaze have been released, but London police confirmed a woman was taken to hospital, where she is in critical condition.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation while we are trying to determine the origin, causes, and circumstances of the fire with the London Police Service. We have notified the office of the Fire Marshal," said Acting Deputy Fire Chief Jack Burt.

A damage estimate has not yet been released.
