SIU mandate invoked in Norfolk County theft

Ontario’s law-enforcement oversight agency is looking into an incident involving theft.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened Thursday afternoon at around 12:10 p.m. Norfolk County OPP officers arrived at a Queensway East, Simcoe address after a report of theft and a man has been taken into custody.

The OPP has notified the Special Investigations Unit which invoked its mandate. No further information has been provided.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
