Four arrested after jewellery store heist

Four men are in custody after a smash and grab robbery at a London jewellery store.

London police were called a Gordon's Gold Jewellers at 760 Hyde Park Rd. just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to police, a car pulled up to the front of the store and two men wearing masks went into the store. They told employees to get on the floor while they smashed display cases with a sledgehammer. The men took what police are calling a "significant amount of jewellery" and then got back in the car and took off.

Responding officers followed the car to a location on River Road in the Oneida of the Thames First Nation. With help from the OPP, Strathroy-Caradoc police, and Oneida of the Thames police, four men were taken into custody.

Police have not said if charges have been laid. The investigation is ongoing.
