Person hurt trying to stop suspected thief

A person who tried to intervene in the theft of a pair of backpacks from White Oaks Mall ended up with minor injuries.

London police were called to the Wellington Road mall after a man stole two backpacks from a store around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday. A citizen was hurt in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the man as he made his getaway.

The backpacks were later found inside the mall.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect on Wednesday afternoon and are asking for the public's help in identifying him.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
