Spitfires shot down by Knights 4-3 in Game 1

The Windsor Spitfires dropped a 4-3 decision to the London Knights in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarter-final series on Friday.

Evan Bouchard and Alex Formenton both scored for London in the first period to take a 2-0 lead heading into the second.

Will Cuylle put Windsor on the board with a goal 9:27 into the second frame, but Bouchard added another for London less than a minute later. Alec Regula also scored before the end of the period to give the Knights a 4-1 lead.

Tyler Angle and Connor Corcoran both scored the Spitfires in the final minute of the game, but Windsor wasn't able to add another goal to complete the comeback before the buzzer.

London goaltender Jordan Kooy made 23 saves during the game, while Windsor goalie Kari Piiroinen made 21.

The puck drops for Game 2 on Sunday at 2 p.m. in London.
