Fire claims a life in Port Rowan

Police are investigating after one person was found dead following a house fire in Port Rowan.

The Ontario Provincial Police and firefighters were called to an Erie Avenue address on Monday at around 3:14 p.m.

Fire crews were able to enter the home and extinguish the blaze, however, a female was located inside and pronounced dead at the scene.  The name of the female will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services is working to investigate this incident. It is unknown if police consider the fire suspicious at this time.

The Ontario Fire Marshalls Office has also been contacted and will be attending the scene.
