Police seize sawed-off shotgun, $50K worth of drugs

A raid on a south-London hotel room netted police two guns, including a sawed-off shotgun, and more than $50,000 worth of drugs.

Officers with the London police guns and drugs section searched the Wellington Road South hotel room Tuesday afternoon. They seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun, a .22-calibre gun, ammunition, 123 grams of fentanyl, 26 grams of ketamine, 0.25 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 3.13 grams of crack cocaine, and 21 hydromorphone pills.

Approximately $13,000 cash, six digital scales, drug packaging, and a shotgun barrel were also found inside the room.

A 43-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from London, are charged with possession of a Schedule I substance.

The man is additionally charged with five counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of careless storage of a firearm or ammunition, one count of possession of a loaded regulated firearm, two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

He is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Wednesday. The woman will make a court appearance on May 10.
