Crash on Springbank alcohol related, police say

London police are alleging that a collision on Springbank Drive early Friday morning was the result of a man's decision to drive while impaired.

Around 12:30 a.m., a westbound SUV crossed the centre line and struck an eastbound vehicle. Emergency crews were called to the scene and the male driver and female passenger of the eastbound vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The male driver and female passenger of the other vehicle involved remain in hospital at this time with serious injuries," police said in a statement issued Friday afternoon. "The male is in good condition while the female is in fair condition.

The driver of the SUV was found a short distance from the vehicle, according to police. The 32-year-old London man has been charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and one count of impaired driving.
