Man hurt in armed robbery

A man was seriously hurt in an armed robbery near Old South early Wednesday.

Two men were walking in the area of Wharncliffe Road South and Briscoe Street around 2:30 a.m. when they were approached by three men who had their faces covered. The trio robbed the other men before taking off in a silver SUV with tinted windows.

The three men are believed to have had a gun and a hatchet, London police said.

One of the victims was assaulted during the robbery. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are searching for three Indigenous men. One is described as approximately 30 years old, 6’2” tall, 175-200 pounds, with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark green t-shirt, black pants and had a bandana covering his face. The second suspect is said to be shorter than the first suspect and was wearing a black sweater, black pants, with a bandana covering his face. There is no description of the third suspect.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
