Police seek man who pepper sprayed woman and dog

Police in St. Thomas are looking for a man who allegedly pepper-sprayed a woman and her dog.

Police said it happened around 12 p.m. Saturday in the area of East Street and Curtis Street. Two people were walking their dogs when one of the pets got loose of its leash.

The other dog walker then pepper-sprayed the loose dog and its owner.

As a result,  a 39-year-old St. Thomas man is wanted for assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.

The woman has been charged under the city’s bylaw for letting a dog run at large.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
