Woman in sex trade assaulted

London police are warning women who work in the sex trade to be extra careful after a woman was tasered in an assault and robbery early Monday.

A man, who had contacted a woman through an online advertisement, went to a home on Wellington Street near Simcoe Street just after 12 a.m. A woman inside the home was then assaulted and tasered, before the man took off in the woman's vehicle, according to police.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the attack.

Police are now looking for a man described as black, approximately 5’8” tall, 200 pounds, 25-40 years old, with short hair and was cleanly shaven. He was wearing a black and grey toque and a black hooded sweatshirt.

The stolen vehicle is a 2019 red Toyota RAV4 with licence plate CHDY928.

Anyone with information about this incident or who knows where the stolen vehicle may be is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
