Boil water advisory in place for Bayham Secondary Water System

Southwestern Public Health has issued a boil water advisory for consumers of the Bayham Secondary Water System including Port Burwell and Vienna.

According to a post on their website, Dr.  Joyce Lock, medical officer of health, was advised that a water main break occurred on Nova Scotia Line sometime Friday that may have compromised the water supply.

Once the water supply is restored, officials are suggesting that users bring water to a rolling boil for at least a minute before using it for domestic purposes including drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, washing food and making infant formula.

"The boiling water advisory is recommended as a precaution in case the loss of pressure possibly led to contamination," said Lock. "All consumers located in Vienna and Port Burwell are being notified of this advisory."

The advisory will remain in place until tests prove that the water is safe.
