Man steals ambulance from Strathroy Middlesex General

A Strathroy man is facing several charges, including impaired driving, after allegedly stealing an ambulance on Sunday morning and taking it for a cruise.

According to Strathroy-Caradoc Police, they were called to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital around 8:05 a.m. for a report of a stolen ambulance.

Less than five minutes later, officers located the vehicle travelling on Centre Road and Second Street. They arrested the lone driver without incident and without any damage to the vehicle. No one was injured in the process and nothing was reported missing from the ambulance.

As a result, the 33-year-old is facing charges of being impaired by drug while operating a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a schedule one substance, theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation conditions.

He will appear in London court in May.
