Man targeted in hotel shooting

A day after a man was shot at a south London hotel, police have confirmed the incident was not random.

Police were notified about the shooting by hospital staff after a 55-year-old man walked into the medical facility suffering from a gunshot wound around 7:30 a.m. on Monday. The man's injuries were considered non-life threatening.

The shooting took place half an hour earlier at the Ramada Inn at Exeter Road and Wellington Road South, according to police. Officers spent hours at the hotel, cordoning off a section of the parking lot and collecting evidence.

"Investigators do not believe that this was a random incident," police said in a statement issued on Tuesday morning.

The investigation has been assigned to the London police major crime section and is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
