Arrest made after man seriously injured in assault

One man is in critical condition and another has been arrested following an assault incident in London.

The London Police Service said officers were called to the area of Ernest Avenue and Rosamond Crescent around 10 p.m. on Tuesday after a 28-year-old man was found on the ground in medical distress. Police said he had also been forcibly confined within a nearby residence and assaulted.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he remains in critical condition. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said a suspect was located at a south end hotel and arrested. Tyson Baribeau, 33, of London, is now charged with aggravated assault and forcible confinement. He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday in relation to the charges.

The victim and the accused are known to each other, police said.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
