Charges pending in transport crash

The conditions of two people who suffered life-threatening injuries in a transport truck crash on Hwy. 401 have improved, according to the provincial police.

The driver and passenger in a transport truck that rear-ended another in the eastbound lanes at Iona Road late Friday afternoon are now said to be in stable condition, according to Elgin OPP. Both were rushed to hospital after the collision, one by air ambulance, the other by land ambulance.

Police said charges are now pending against the injured driver.

The crash forced the closure of the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 for about 10 hours.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
