Free shuttle takes Argyle residents to Stronach pool

Argyle residents missing the East Lions Park pool can once again take a free bus ride for a dip in nearby Stronach pool every Friday afternoon.

For the second year in a row, the City of London and the Family Centre Argyle have launched the shuttle bus program between the east and northeast neighbourhoods. The bus will pick up pool-goers at the Family Centre Argyle at 1990 Royal Cres. at 12:45 p.m. each Friday this summer and take them to the Stronach pool for a swim from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The bus returns to the centre in Argyle at 4 p.m.

Residents in the Argyle area have been without a local pool since construction began on the East Community Centre at East Lions Park in November 2017.

"We know the neighbourhood misses the pool at East Lions Park, so the shuttle bus is an alternative option we’re offering families again this summer," said Lynn Louber, the city's division manager of aquatics and arenas.

The shuttle bus began running last Friday, with more than a dozen people taking advantage of the service.

While the shuttle is free, individuals will still have to pay the regular admission cost to use Stronach pool.

The shuttle bus will be run every Friday afternoon through to August 16.
