The elderly woman was picking up broken glass outside of her Avon Road apartment building on Monday night, when a woman came out of her apartment and assaulted her, St. Thomas police said.
A 52-year-old woman turned herself in to police in relation to the incident on Tuesday morning. She is now charged with assault.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
