Arson charge laid in apartment fire

A fire that caused $30,000 in damage to an Oakridge-area apartment building has led to an arson charge against a London man.

Fire crews were called to an apartment building on Fiddler's Green Road on Monday afternoon around 2 p.m. Firefighters put out the blaze in the apartment and there were no injuries reported.

"The fire was deemed to be suspicious in nature and the investigation was assigned to members of the LPS Street Crime Unit, in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Marshal," police said in a statement issued Thursday.

Titan Pehura, 20, of London, is charged with arson with disregard for human life.
