King at Talbot closed for long weekend

There will be a slight pain for drivers traveling through the downtown this weekend as a main intersection closes for construction.

King Street at Talbot Street will be shut down at 6 p.m. Friday for sewer replacement. It won't reopen until 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Drivers will be able to make left turns off of King onto Talbot. However, those heading south on Talbot will be diverted at Dundas Street and there will be no exit on Talbot north of York.

Signs warning about the closure and detour routes are in place.

Sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians during the road work.

For those heading to the Covent Garden Market, access to the parking garage will be provided on Covent Market Place off of Talbot. Police will be on scene directing traffic in that area.

The city is also offering free two-hour parking Saturday, Sunday, and Monday outside of Budweiser Gardens in Municipal Lot 8.

The construction is part of the downtown sewer separation.
