Rent dispute leads to pepper spray incident

A tenant and a landlord engaged in a dispute that led to the landlord being pepper-sprayed on Saturday.

The dispute happened at a South end residence in St. Thomas where the landlord allegedly assaulted the tenant over a disagreement over rent owed. According to St. Thomas police, the tenant then responded by pepper-spraying the landlord.

Police have since charged a 55-year-old Woodstock woman with assault and a 31-year-old St. Thomas woman with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both women were released on future court dates.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
