Tip from Facebook leads to luring charges

A London man is facing several charges after Facebook alerted London police to an alleged case of luring.

According to police, a London man is alleged to have communicated with a 14-year-old girl several times through the Facebook messenger app between May 25 and June 11. Those messages led to face to face meetings with the girl.

"Investigators with the London Police Service were contacted by Facebook in relation to the messages, and early Friday morning, members of the LPS Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a man at a residence in the west end of the city," police said in a statement issued Tuesday.

Joshua Robert Wightwick, 27, is charged with invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age, three counts of luring a person under16 years of age, and three counts of luring a person under 18 years of age.

He is to appear in court on September 19.
