Construction closes section of Talbot

Drivers and cyclists will have to detour around another downtown street for the next three months.

As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, Talbot Street between King and York streets closed to traffic as work to replace an aging sewer progresses.

At most times during the construction, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be able to pass though the area.

Local traffic will only be able to access the area from the west at the York and Ridout intersection. Orange traffic control signs and construction workers will guide motorists through the construction. Drivers headed east through the downtown are advised to use King Street.

The stretch of road won't reopen until the end of October, the city said in a statement.
