Pot farm robbery leaves one person hurt

An armed robbery at a legal marijuana farm south of Simcoe left one person with minor injuries and police searching for suspects.

According to Norfolk OPP, several suspects armed with handguns broke into the cannabis growing operation on Concession 14 near Blueline Road in Townsend around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

"Once inside one of the victims was assaulted and received minor injuries as a result," Constable Ed Sanchuk said in a Periscope video posted to Twitter.

The suspects then proceeded to remove a large quantity of marijuana before taking off in a red Ford F-150 pickup truck with a cap over the bed of the truck. A U-Haul truck was seen following the pickup.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
