Social media messages lead to luring, child pornography charges

A London man is facing a list of charges after an investigation by the London police Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

According to police, a London man is alleged to have communicated with a 14-year-old girl through social media platforms several times during June of this year. The investigation led to the arrest of Joshua Robert Wightwick, 27, of London.

He is charged with:

  • Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age
  • Extortion
  • Unlawfully possess child pornography
  • Unlawfully access child pornography
  • Indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age
  • Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Two counts of Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication
In August, Wightwick was charged with invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age, three counts of luring a person under 16 years of age, and three counts of luring a person under 18 years of age. Those charges stemmed from allegations that he contacted a 14-year-old girl through Facebook Messenger and then met with the girl.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
