Charge laid in crash that killed Fanshawe student from India

A single-vehicle crash north of London that claimed the life of a woman from India has led to a charge being laid against a Londoner.

The Ontario Provincial Police, along with EMS crews and the Middlesex Centre Fire Department, were called to Highbury Avenue at Fourteen Mile Road around 7:30 p.m. on August 16. A vehicle had gone off the road and rolled into the ditch. Keerthana Susheel Tholoor, 24, of India died as a result of injuries she suffered in the crash.

OPP announced Friday that Sai Polumuru, 26, of London is charged with one count of careless driving causing death.

Tholoor was in Canada to further her post-secondary education and was studying at Fanshawe College, according to a GoFundMe campaign that was launched by the London Ontario Malayalee Association after her death. he page described the 24-year-old as a fine young woman, who was always very happy and had a positive influence on others. She left behind her parents and a sister.

Polumuru is to appear in court on September 30.
