UPDATE: Charges laid after man stabbed, shots fired in northwest London

Four London men have now been charged after another man suffered a stab wound in the northwest side of the city.

London police rushed to a plaza at 1229 Wonderland Rd. N, near Sherwood Square around 12:10 a.m. on Friday after getting a 911 call about gunfire in the area.

When officers arrived they found a man in the parking lot suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been treated and released.

Evidence that was found at the scene confirmed a gun had been fired, police said. Fortunately, there were no gunshot-related injuries reported.

Several people were taken into custody and a firearm was seized by police.

As a result of the police investigation, 25-year-old Peter Caron, 22-year-old Johan Huisman, 26-year-old Montel Nethersole, and 21-year-old Joshua Reyes have been charged with occupying a motor vehicle with a restricted firearm, possessing a loaded restricted firearm without a licence, possessing a prohibited/restricted weapon or prohibited device without authority, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a Scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Caron, Huisman, and Nethersole are also charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited. As well, Nethersole is charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance and breach of probation, while Reyes is charged with mischief under $5,000.

The four men remained in custody on Friday and with court appearances scheduled that afternoon.

The major crimes unit is continuing to investigate. Investigators believe this was not a random incident and are reassuring the public that there is no threat to public safety.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
