UPDATE: Man charged after homicide in Central London

Police in London have charged a man following an apparent homicide in the city.

The London Police Service is not releasing much information at this time but police officials said on Friday at around 9:20 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the area of Dufferin Avenue and Colborne Street following a 911 call. A man was found suffering from serious injuries and rushed to hospital.

Another man was arrested in the area shortly after.

The victim was pronounced dead in hospital shortly after 10 p.m. and police are now calling the incident a homicide. He has been identified as Christopher Husty, 59 years old, of London.

"The accused and victim are believed to be known to each other. The London police believe this to be an isolated incident, with no further threat to public safety," police said in a news released Friday evening.

As a result of the investigation, 62-year-old Ernest Guitare of London is charged with second-degree murder and assaulting police. These charges have not yet been proven in court. Guitare is currently in custody and is scheduled to make a court appearance via video on Saturday.

According to police, the investigation remains ongoing.
