Brick thrown through homeless drop-in centre window

A 26-year-old St. Thomas man is facing half a dozen charges for allegedly throwing a brick through the window of a local homeless drop-in centre.

The incident happened at the Talbot Street centre shortly after midnight on Saturday and was captured on video surveillance, said St. Thomas police.

A man is seen in the video prying a brick from the decorative ledge of a neighbouring store before hurling it through the homeless drop-in facility's window.

An unidentified 26-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested without incident. He is now charged with two counts of mischief to property under $5,000, three counts of breaching release conditions, and one count of theft under $5,000.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
