OPP cruiser. File photo by Blackburn News.A 75-year-old Rodney man has died from injuries suffered in a single vehicle crash in Elgin County.
Provincial police and ambulance crews were called to Pioneer Line near Kerr Road between Rodney and West Lorne around 2 p.m. Sunday. An eastbound vehicle had gone off the road and into the ditch before hitting a tree.
The driver was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Kennth Byers, 75, of Rodney died in hospital.
The road was closed for several hours while police investigated.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Residents in zones 8 and 10 on Aamjiwnaang First Nation have been asked to shelter in place.
