Single-vehicle crash claims life of Rodney man

A 75-year-old Rodney man has died from injuries suffered in a single vehicle crash in Elgin County.

Provincial police and ambulance crews were called to Pioneer Line near Kerr Road between Rodney and West Lorne around 2 p.m. Sunday. An eastbound vehicle had gone off the road and into the ditch before hitting a tree.

The driver was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Kennth Byers, 75, of Rodney died in hospital.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
