London man killed in collision with dump truck

A two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck south of Thamesford has left a London man dead.

Oxford OPP were called after a car and a dump truck collided at the intersection of County Road 64 and 17th Line around 3:15 p.m.

The force of the crash sent the car into a hydro pole. Its driver, Mayank Kumar, 27, of London, had to be cut from the wreckage. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The dump truck driver was not hurt.

According to police, the car failed to stop at the intersection prior to the crash.

The intersection was closed for roughly five hours while police investigated. It has since been reopened.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
