St. Thomas police are looking for three suspects after a stolen truck was used to rip an ATM from a downtown grocery store.
Officers were patrolling in the area of William Street and Talbot Street when they found the metal front door frame of the Foodland laying in the grocery store's parking lot around 4:30 a.m. on Monday. Police quickly noticed the store's ATM had been removed from the foyer.
It was determined that, five minutes before police happened by, three men in a stolen blue Chevy Silverado pick-up truck pulled up to the store and used a hand tool to cut a hole in the glass of the front door.
One of the men climbed through the hole and tied a chain around the ATM. Using the truck, the men were able to rip the ATM from its base. They then loaded it into the bed of the pickup and drove away.
According to police, the theft took roughly two minutes to complete.
The pickup truck, which had been stolen from a home near Dunkirk Drive and Fifth Avenue, was found burned out in Southwold Township two hours later.
Police continue to search for the three men involved in the theft. Two of the suspects are described as men who were wearing jeans, dark jackets and masks. The third male suspect was wearing jeans and a jacket that had an emblem on the back.
