Man arrested in St. Thomas after passing out while driving

A London man is facing charges after allegedly passing out behind the wheel while impaired.

Police in St. Thomas said around midnight Sunday, they got reports from two witnesses who saw a vehicle failing to stop at a red light in the city's southwest end.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the middle of the intersection. When police arrived, they found the 26-year-old passed out behind the wheel with his foot on the brake and the vehicle still in drive.

Officers blocked the vehicle from moving before waking the man up and arresting him for impaired driving. Breath tests conducted at the police station determined his blood alcohol concentration was over twice the legal limit. The man was held to sober and released from custody on a promise to appear.
