Video nabs woman breaking into neighbour's apartment

A 39-year-old St. Thomas woman is accused of ransacking her neighbour's apartment after finding a key to the unit hidden inside her building.

According to St. Thomas police, the incident Wednesday afternoon was caught on a home security system installed inside the unit that sent video to the tenant's cellphone.

The video footage showed a woman coming into the apartment, going through drawers and stealing several items before leaving.

The tenant called police, who quickly arrested a suspect.

A 39-year-old St. Thomas woman is charged with break and enter and theft under $5,000.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
