Crash near Thamesford claims one life

One person is dead after a three-vehicle collision near Thamesford.

According to the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police, the collision happened around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Highway 2 and 29th Line, northeast of Thamesford. Police say a mini-van, a pick-up truck, and a tractor trailer collided at the intersection.

"A local adult female, operating the mini-van, was transported by air ambulance to a trauma centre and was later pronounced deceased," police said in a news release Wednesday afternoon. "The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was treated at scene with minor injuries."

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
