Crash, fuel spill close section of Highbury Avenue

Drivers were forced to detour around Highbury Avenue at Highway 401 during the Monday morning commute after a crash led to a diesel fuel leak.

Emergency crews were called to the area shortly before 8:30 a.m. London police have said three vehicles were involved in the crash and one person suffered minor injuries.

A significant amount of diesel fuel leaked from a tractor trailer onto the roadway. London Fire Department hazardous materials technicians are working to contain and clean up the spill. The Ministry of Environment has been notified.

All lanes of Highbury Avenue and the westbound 401 off-ramp were closed following the crash. All northbound lane of Highbury were reopened just after 9 a.m. and one southbound lane was reopened just before 10:30 a.m. The roadway won't be completely reopened until at least 1 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
