St. Thomas parents accused of abusing kids

Three parents are facing accusations that they hit their kids with a belt and broom.

St. Thomas police announced Monday that a joint investigation with Family and Children's Services led to the arrests and charges. According to police, the three adults were living in the same home with three children. It's alleged that the adults struck the children with a belt and broom on several occasions.

A 36-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman, and a 28-year-old woman turned themselves in at the Colin McGregor Justice Building on Friday. They are all charged with assault.

The man and women appeared in court and were released from custody on a promise to appear for their next court dates.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
