Pedestrian seriously hurt in hit-and-run

A pedestrian is fighting for life after a hit-and-run in east London.

The woman was crossing Hamilton Road at Redan Street around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday when she was struck. The vehicle that hit her did not stop and took off eastbound on Hamilton Road, London police said.

The woman was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her name has not been released.

A description of the suspect vehicle and its driver have not been released.

The investigation is said to be in its early stages. Hamilton Road between Little Hill and Redan streets was closed by police for roughly four hours. It was reopened shortly after 10 p.m.

Police are asking anyone with information about the collision to call them at 519 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
