Freezing rain possible this weekend

Residents of the London area could wake up to a slippery Sunday morning.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for London, Middlesex County, Elgin County, and Oxford County. The weather agency says freezing rain is expected to move into the area last Saturday night and last into Sunday.

"A strengthening low-pressure system is expected to bring a messy mix of weather to the area beginning late Saturday night or early Sunday morning," the advisory said.

Forecasters say some areas could see several hours of freezing rain or ice pellets before the precipitation transitions to rain or light snow late Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon."
