Drug trafficking charge laid after Highway 402 crash

A Toronto man is facing charges after a driver fled the scene of a crash on Highway 402 in London.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Wednesday at around 9:35 p.m., two vehicles collided in the westbound lanes of the 402, a few kilometres west of the Highway 401 split.

One of the drivers fled the scene but was arrested near the White Oak Road and Dingman Drive area.  Police said a canine unit was then called in to search the area for evidence.

No one was seriously injured in the crash, police said.

As a result of an investigation, 37-year-old Daine Clarke of Toronto is now charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking and failing to stop after an accident.  He is scheduled to appear at the London Ontario Court of Justice on January 24, 2020.
