Snow squall warning in effect

Wednesday is shaping up to be a very snowy day in the London area.

Environment Canada has upgraded a snow squall watch to a snow squall warning for London, Middlesex County, and Oxford County. The weather agency says squalls are expected to develop Wednesday morning and last throughout the day and into the night.

"Furthermore, strong northwest winds gusting to 50 kilometres per hour is expected to result in blowing snow," Environment Canada said.

Forecasters say total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are possible by Thursday morning.

Environment Canada says visibility may be affected during periods of heavy snowfall. It also warns that roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots may become slippery.
