Collision sends pedestrian to hospital

A 42-year-old woman is in hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Woodstock.

The woman was walking west on Dundas Street at Beale Street when she was hit by a vehicle at the intersection just before 7 a.m. Friday.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Charges have not been laid in relation to the collision. However, Woodstock police are reminding pedestrians and drivers to always be aware of their surroundings.

"Wear reflective clothing and use sidewalks when they are available. If sidewalks are not available, pedestrians should walk closest to the curb and walk in the opposite direction of traffic so you can see approaching vehicles. Drivers are reminded to always be alert and aware of your surroundings," Sergeant Josh Coates said in a statement.
