Suspect sought in St. Thomas armed robbery

St. Thomas police are looking for a suspect after an armed robbery Sunday morning.

According to police, the man walked into a downtown convenience store around 10:15 a.m. carrying a weapon.

He allegedly ordered the store clerk to open the cash register and get on the ground, which the clerk complied with.

The suspect then ripped the telephone off the wall to prevent the clerk from calling police. He eventually fled to Talbot Street and was last seen running north on East Street. Police K-9 was contacted and a track of the suspect was attempted but ultimately unsuccessful.

The clerk was uninjured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-35 years old, approximately 5 ft 10 in -6 ft tall, thin with a reddish blonde goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-631-1224  or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
