Woman assaulted at St. Thomas shelter

One woman has been charged after another woman was hit in the face during an attack at a St. Thomas homeless shelter.

St. Thomas police were called to the shelter early Saturday night. Officers determined a glass bowl was used to strike the woman. She suffered minor injuries, police said.

It is unclear what led to the attack.

A 36-year-old woman is charged with assault with a weapon.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
