Crashes close westbound 402 at Glendon Drive

Drivers heading to Sarnia who rely on Highway 402 had to find a different route Wednesday morning.

The westbound lanes of the highway were closed at Glendon Drive near Mount Brydges following four separate collisions involving tractor trailers just after 6 a.m.

No one was hurt in the crashes.

According to OPP, the decision was made to close the lanes to ensure the safety of emergency crews during the cleanup operation.

The lanes were closed for several hours until one lane was opened in the afternoon.

Numerous minor collisions have also been reported on Highway 401, but none have resulted in any closures, police said.

Snow squalls, which began passing through the London region late Tuesday night, have left many roads snow-covered and icy.
